Infinity Ring은 지리산의 하늘과 섬진강의 물이 맞닿는 구례의 장소성을 하나의 조형으로 압축한 전망대입니다. 하늘을 상징하는 수평 링과 물의 낙하를 상징하는 수직 링이 교차하며, 정면에서는 하늘로부터 물이 떨어지는 장면을, 측면에서는 물결이 확산되는 파장의 궤적을 드러냅니다. 보는 위치와 이동 방향에 따라 두 링의 형태가 중첩되고 분리되면서, 구례의 산과 강, 하늘이 끊임없이 변화하는 풍경으로 경험됩니다.

전망대로 오르는 동선은 섬진강의 물이 증발하고, 하늘에서 응결된 뒤 다시 땅으로 낙하하는 순환의 시간을 따라 구성됩니다. ‘섬진8경’으로 이어지는 체험 구간에서는 물의 흐름과 반사, 소리, 빛, 안개 등의 변화를 통해 자연의 시간성을 공감각적으로 느끼실 수 있습니다. 높이 53.5m의 철골 구조를 따라 상승하는 과정은 단순히 전망대에 오르는 이동이 아니라, 섬진강에서 하늘로 상승했다가 다시 강으로 돌아오는 물의 여정을 공간적으로 체험하는 과정이 됩니다.

시간에 따라 Infinity Ring의 풍경도 달라집니다. 낮에는 링 사이로 지리산과 섬진강의 경관이 프레임처럼 펼쳐지고, 빛과 그림자의 변화가 구조물 위에 물결과 같은 리듬을 만들어냅니다. 해가 진 뒤에는 LED 라이트 서클과 워터폴 투사 조명, 코어를 감싸는 스파이럴 라이트가 물의 낙하와 순환을 빛으로 재해석하며, 구례의 낮과 밤, 자연과 인공, 하늘과 강을 연결하는 새로운 관광 거점이자 상징적 야간 경관을 완성합니다.

Infinity Ring is an observation tower that condenses the identity of Gurye—where the sky above Jirisan Mountain meets the waters of the Seomjin River—into a single sculptural form. A horizontal ring symbolizing the sky intersects with a vertical ring representing falling water. From the front, the structure evokes water descending from the sky, while from the side, it reveals the expanding trajectory of ripples. As visitors move around it, the two rings overlap and separate, continuously reframing the mountains, river, and sky as an ever-changing landscape.

The ascending circulation follows the temporal cycle of water as it evaporates from the Seomjin River, condenses in the sky, and falls back to the earth. Along the sequence of experiences known as the “Eight Scenic Views of Seomjin,” visitors encounter variations of flow, reflection, sound, light, and mist, allowing the passage of natural time to be perceived through multiple senses. The journey through the 53.5-meter-high steel structure is therefore more than a path to a viewing platform; it becomes a spatial experience of water rising from the river to the sky and returning once again to the landscape.

Infinity Ring also transforms with the passage of time. During the day, the structure frames panoramic views of Jirisan Mountain and the Seomjin River, while shifting light and shadow create rhythms across its surface that resemble moving water. At night, LED light circles, waterfall projection lighting, and spiral illumination around the central core reinterpret the fall and circulation of water through light. In this way, Infinity Ring connects day and night, nature and technology, and the sky and river, establishing a new tourism landmark and a symbolic nighttime landscape for Gurye.
