대상지인 홍대복합역사는 동교동삼거리에 위치하며 연남동-경의선책거리(연트럴파크), 신촌역-합정역을 연결하는 지역 간 허브의 역할을 하는 장소에 위치하는 애경그룹의 최초 복합사옥이다. 그렇기 때문에 경의선이 지니고 있는 역사적인 맥락과 연트럴파크라는 지역적 맥락을 반영하여 "애경 포레스트"라는 메인컨셉으로 공간을 디자인하였다.
특히 1층의 공공 보행로는 포레스트의 핵심공간으로 1층 필로티 공간에 위치한다. 이 공간의 천장은 숲속에서 바라본 하늘의 모습을 재현하였으며 15000개의 타공사이로 비추는 조명 패턴은 잎사이로 새어 들어오는 빛의 농담을 표현하였다.
또한 바닥의 라인 패턴은 맞은편의 경의선 철길의 라인을 그대로 이어서 디자인하였으며 철길의 라인은 자연스럽게 공공보행로의 벤치와 조경화단을 구성하고, 기둥 사이의 공간을 확보하여 다양한 홍대문화의 상징인 길거리 공연이 이루어질 수 있도록 하였다.

The target site, Hongdae Complex Station, is located at the Donggyo-dong Intersection, acting as a hub connecting Yeonnam-dong, Gyeongui Line Book Street (Yeontral Park), and the Sinchon–Hapjeong area. As Aekyung Group’s first complex building, the space was designed under the main concept of “Aekyung Forest,” reflecting both the historical context of the Gyeongui Line and the regional character of Yeontral Park.
The ground-floor public walkway, set within the piloti space, serves as the core of Aekyung Forest. Its ceiling reimagines the sky seen through a forest canopy, with lighting patterns created by 15,000 perforations to simulate light filtering through leaves.
Floor patterns mirror the nearby Gyeongui Line tracks, naturally forming benches and landscaping, while open spaces between columns allow for street performances—an iconic part of Hongdae’s cultural identity.
